Community Banker

About This Role

The Community Banker delivers personalized client service by holding financial conversations with clients and prospects to determine their needs and provide appropriate solutions. This position is responsible for maintaining client relationships, with emphasis on First Interstate Bank's Service Commitments and in accordance with its vision and values.

Responsibilities

• Deliver personalized client service in person and over the phone by answering questions, assisting with issues, and offering solutions
• Open and maintain a variety of products, including consumer and business checking and savings accounts, Individual Retirement Accounts, Certificates of Deposit, and consumer and small business credit cards
• Hold financial conversations with clients and prospects to determine needs and provide appropriate solutions
• Process new consumer loan requests; may also engage in conversations or process new small business loan requests
• Identify referral opportunities to other lines of business—including, but not limited to, Home Loans, Treasury Solutions, Merchant Services, Business Banking, and Wealth Management—and consistently utilize 360 View to document referrals and other client activity
• Build client relationships through outbound outreach and proactive engagement
• Perform Teller duties as needed, conducting financial transactions such as check cashing, deposits, withdrawals, loan payments, and accurately counting currency and coin
• Complete work accurately with minimal errors
• Participate in volunteer activities and financial education efforts
• Stay current on regulatory changes and demonstrate compliance with all bank regulations, policies, and procedures related to assigned job functions; knowledge may be gained through coursework and on-the-job training
• Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

• High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required
• 1-3 years banking or related experience required
• Registered Mortgage Loan Originator per the SAFE Act within 30 Days required
• Demonstrate strong attention to detail and the ability to follow verbal and written instructions
• Maintain confidentiality at all times
• Use tact and diplomacy effectively when interacting with clients and coworkers
• Possess working knowledge of personal computers, Microsoft programs, and strong 10-key skills
• Maintain working knowledge of digital platforms, CRM systems, and emerging technologies
• Able to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos
• Able to write simple correspondence
• Able to effectively present information in one-on-one and small-group situations to clients and other employees of the organization
