Live 2 Give Hope is a nonprofit based in Lebanon, Missouri, serving Laclede County and the surrounding region. The organization supports families affected by poverty and involvement in the child welfare system through programs like the Fostering Hope Closet, which provides clothing, beds, and essential items to foster and at-risk families, Kids' Night Out, a respite program for foster families, and Paving the Way, a life skills program for youth aging out of foster care. This VISTA project works to reduce poverty-related child welfare involvement in Laclede County by strengthening the organizational systems that connect low-income and at-risk families to these existing programs. The Communications Specialist will build capacity by creating the communication infrastructure Live 2 Give Hope needs to reach more families with consistent, accessible information, including a communications assessment, a strategic outreach plan, reusable messaging and branding tools, and partnership relationships with local schools, churches, and community organizations. This is capacity-building work, not direct service. The VISTA member will not work directly with clients or families. Instead, they will develop the systems and materials that allow Live 2 Give Hope's staff and volunteers to reach and serve more families, both now and after the VISTA term ends.
Member Duties : The VISTA member will conduct a full assessment of Live 2 Give Hope's current communications and use it to build a strategic outreach and engagement plan that identifies key audiences, core messages, and the best channels for reaching foster families, donors, and community partners. The member will create a library of reusable communication tools, including templates, messaging guides, and a social media content calendar, and will establish an analytics tracking system to measure reach and engagement over time. They will develop website content update procedures and a maintenance schedule that Communications staff can follow going forward. The member will build outreach relationships with at least three local schools, churches, or community organizations, and will document all communication workflows so these systems continue running smoothly once their service year is complete.
