The Mission-Critical Role

As a Communication I with the Sheriff's Office, you'll help make a difference by ensuring the right help is sent, fast-supporting Public Safety and protecting our community impact across Rutherford County. This purpose-driven role exists to connect residents and responders through clear, accurate information. Key responsibilities include receiving emergency and non-emergency requests, entering, and updating call details in computer aided dispatch system, monitoring radio traffic, coordinating with field units, and maintaining calm, professional communication during high-stress situations.

You start onsite at 940 New Salem Hwy by checking system status, reviewing updates from the prior shift, and settling into a steady rhythm of calls and radio traffic. Some moments are routine; others move quickly requiring calm focus and precise documentation. Between contacts, you confirm addresses, clarify information, and keep records current so responders can act without delay. Throughout the shift, you stay mission-minded, treating each caller with respect while supporting the Sheriff's Office and Public Safety partners-an everyday way to contribute to meaningful impact in Government service.
