Junior Agriculture Trading Analyst
Location: New York, NY
Position Overview
We are seeking a highly analytical and commercially focused Junior Agriculture Trading Analyst to support a growing agricultural commodities trading business. This individual will work closely with traders, analysts, and senior leadership to provide market intelligence, develop fundamental market models, and support commercial decision-making across global agricultural markets. The role offers broad exposure to commodity trading, market research, strategy development, and investment analysis.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and analyze global agricultural commodity markets, including grains, oilseeds, feedstocks, and related products.
- Track daily market activity, macroeconomic developments, weather patterns, trade flows, and geopolitical events impacting commodity supply and demand.
- Develop and maintain financial, supply-demand, and market forecasting models using internal and external data sources.
- Utilize market intelligence platforms and industry data to support trading and commercial strategies.
- Prepare market reports, presentations, and research materials for traders, management, and commercial teams.
- Support the evaluation of commodity-related investment opportunities through due diligence, market research, and financial analysis.
- Generate and organize fundamental market data that supports quantitative research and trading models.
- Conduct ad hoc market research and analysis for senior leadership and trading teams.
- Identify market trends, opportunities, and risks across agricultural commodity value chains.
- Assist with strategic initiatives, business development projects, and new market assessments.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Agricultural Economics, Business, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field.
- 1-3 years of experience in commodity markets, trading, market analysis, agricultural research, investment analysis, or a related field.
- Strong interest in agricultural commodities and global trade.
- Advanced Excel and financial modeling skills.
- Experience working with large datasets and market research tools.
- Knowledge of Python, SQL, VBA, or other analytical tools is a plus.
- Strong quantitative, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial trading environment.
Preferred Experience
- Exposure to grain, oilseed, feed, or broader agricultural commodity markets.
- Understanding of supply-demand analysis, commodity fundamentals, and global trade flows.
- Experience utilizing market intelligence and trade flow data platforms.
- Familiarity with quantitative analysis and statistical modeling techniques.
