About the role
Commissioning Specialist (Mechanical) Position Overview Seeking a Commissioning Specialist with experience supporting mechanical construction projects through startup, testing, commissioning, and turnover. This individual will work closely with project teams, technicians, and clients to verify system performance, maintain project documentation, and support successful project delivery.
Responsibilities
- Execute commissioning activities for mechanical systems, including startup, testing, inspections, and functional performance verification.
- Complete commissioning documentation, checklists, observations, and deficiency tracking.
- Attend project meetings and communicate project status with internal and external stakeholders.
- Coordinate with project managers, technicians, and field teams to meet project schedules and milestones.
- Review project drawings, specifications, submittals, and commissioning plans.
- Witness equipment testing and verify systems operate according to project requirements.
- Support customer satisfaction through effective communication and issue resolution.
- Identify project constraints, risks, and corrective actions during commissioning activities.
Required Qualifications
- Experience supporting mechanical construction, commissioning, or HVAC-related projects.
- Knowledge of commissioning processes, documentation, and system turnover procedures.
- Understanding of HVAC and mechanical building systems.
- Ability to review construction drawings, specifications, and submittals.
- Familiarity with construction schedules, milestones, and project coordination.
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in a fast-paced construction environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Building Automation Systems (BAS) or controls integration.
- Data center, mission critical, healthcare, industrial, or advanced manufacturing project experience.
- Testing, Adjusting, and Balancing (TAB) experience.
- Ability to interpret controls diagrams and sequences of operation.
- Experience working directly with owners, facility teams, or end users.
- Knowledge of MEP coordination and commissioning best practices.

Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Dallas, TX.
Pay And Benefits The pay range for this position is $34.00 - $49.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
