Collections Specialist

About This Role

This Collections Specialist role involves managing customer accounts, following up on outstanding balances, and resolving payment issues while maintaining a professional and customer-focused approach. It suits a detail-oriented and results-driven individual who is comfortable with financial conversations and enjoys problem-solving.

Responsibilities

• Collect via phone, text, email, or other company-approved means
• Maintain accurate records of all collection activities
• Meet or exceed monthly collection goals
• Process, record, and apply incoming payments
• Assist with billing and invoicing functions
• Reconcile customer accounts and resolve customer disputes
• Handle customer inquiries
• Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

• Previous collections, accounts receivable, billing, or customer service experience preferred
• 2+ years of collections or accounts receivable experience is a plus
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Comfortable making frequent outbound calls and having payment-related conversations
• Strong negotiation and problem-solving skills
• Ability to remain professional and composed when handling difficult or sensitive customer situations
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Excellent organization and time-management skills
• Ability to manage multiple accounts and competing priorities
• Comfortable working with repetitive tasks while maintaining accuracy
• Some college education required, accounting or finance major is a plus
• At least one year of collection experience
• Intermediate skills in Excel, including VLOOKUP and Pivot Tables

Physical Requirements

• Required to carry up to 10 pounds occasionally
• Sit and work at a computer for extended periods
