Collections Specialist

About This Role

The Collections Specialist manages the financial health of the organization by recovering delinquent accounts and evaluating customers' financial stability. This position focuses on minimizing credit risk and ensuring responsible account management.

Responsibilities

• Make collection calls in a business-to-business environment to recover delinquent accounts
• Perform skip-tracing to locate account information when customer details are incomplete or outdated
• Respond to inbound calls and emails regarding overdue accounts from internal teams and external customers
• Recommend escalation of unresolved accounts to third-party collections when necessary
• Analyze credit data and financial statements to assess the risk of extending credit or lending funds
• Prepare detailed reports outlining the degree of credit risk and provide recommendations
• Evaluate customer records to propose payment plans based on income, savings, payment history, and purchasing behavior
• Monitor credit exposure and account performance to proactively manage financial risk
• Prepare credit approval packages, annual reviews, renewals, and client credit proposals
• Coordinate document preparation and closing processes for credit approvals
• Handle incoming credit reference inquiries and provide accurate, timely responses
• Process all transactions related to MCFA accounts, including payment matching, researching discrepancies, applying discounts, and writing off balances
• Process down payments and wire suspense accounts, ensuring reconciliations and zero balance clearance
• Consult with customers to resolve complaints and verify financial and credit transactions
