About the role
Role Overview The pharmacist implements pharmaceutical services by accurately dispensing medications and performing clinical functions such as therapeutic drug monitoring and patient dosing. They ensure medication quality assurance, verify prescriptions, and communicate effectively with healthcare professionals regarding drug orders and interactions.
Key Responsibilities
- Check all medications leaving the department for quality assurance.
- Dispense medications based on physician orders, ensuring accuracy in entry, labeling, and dosage verification.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to select the most appropriate and cost-effective therapies.
- Communicate medication-related information, including drug interactions and dosing questions.
- Participate in departmental projects, policy updates, and in-service programs.
- Manage clinical functions such as IV admixture, hyperalimentation, chemotherapy agents, narcotic control, investigational drugs, and therapeutic drug monitoring.
- Work with various computer systems, document in patient charts, and oversee pharmacy technicians and automated systems.
- Monitor for adverse drug reactions and ensure safe medication practices.
Qualifications & Skills
- Licensed Pharmacist with a Bachelor's Degree in Pharmacy.
- Knowledge of clinical pharmacy practices, medication storage, and dispensing guidelines.
- Strong communication skills to liaise with healthcare professionals.
- Proficiency in computer systems and clinical dosing services.
- Ability to work independently and participate in team projects.
