About the role
Role Overview: The Clinical Risk Manager oversees the review, investigation, and prioritization of reported clinical and organizational events to enhance patient safety and reduce liability. They collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, leaders, and claims management to implement risk mitigation strategies, analyze data for trends, and promote a culture of safety and quality improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Review and assess reported safety events, identify risks, and ensure timely follow-up.
- Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies in partnership with clinical and administrative leaders.
- Investigate potential claims, manage communication with legal and insurance teams, and process related documentation.
- Collaborate on risk assessments, conduct root cause analyses, and educate staff on patient safety and legal considerations.
- Serve as an advisor on disclosure and documentation of adverse outcomes.
- Participate in monthly risk and claims meetings, and assist with compliance and incident data analysis.
- Foster a safety-oriented culture, provide training, and support emergency preparedness plans.
Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor’s Degree in Health Administration or Nursing; RN preferred.
- 5+ years of clinical experience, with 2+ years in patient safety/risk management.
- Strong communication, investigative, and analytical skills.
- Experience with Epic and RL Solutions is preferred.
- Ability to collaborate effectively across all organizational levels and handle conflict resolution.
