About the Role

As a Clinical Nurse Specialist, you will undertake a leadership role within Cancer & Blood Services, be a role model for excellence in Nursing Practice, facilitate evidence-based practice and proactively contribute to improving patient outcomes. In collaboration with the MDT, the CNS provides clinical expertise and is a clinical resource for the wider Cancer & Blood Services team.

This position will have a special interest in supporting Endocrine Breast patients.

Key responsibility areas include:

  • Patient Case Management and Care Co-ordination
  • Demonstrate clinical leadership, provide expert clinical advice, information and education, and be a clinical resource for the multi-disciplinary team
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives within the Head and Neck team and the wider Cancer & Blood Service

About the Team/Service/Location

Cancer & Blood services currently provide both Haematology and Medical Oncology out-patient services including SACT administration. You will be working alongside a wide team of multi-disciplinary healthcare professionals, including other tumour stream Clinical Nurse Specialists to deliver specialised care and meet Faster Cancer Treatment governmental targets.

Cancer & Blood services is opening the door to providing Radiation Oncology for Northlanders from next week which will complete the range of cancer services offered in Te Tai Tokerau.

Work within a tight knit specialist team in the beautiful Te Tai Tokerau, and within the wider regional team, you will always be supported to grow personally and professionally.

About you

As a Clinical Nurse Specialist, you would have an ability to develop productive and positive relationships, lead and facilitate change and be able to educate and coach staff.

  • New Zealand Registered Nurse with a current practicing certificate (APC)
  • Post graduate tertiary qualification (post graduate diploma/masters).
  • PDRP at Expert or DSN Level
  • Minimum of 5 years post graduate experience
  • Leadership, and clinical teaching skills
