About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Clinical Nurse Coordinator (CNC) to join our ATR/ASU Ward at Whanganui Hospital on a fixed term basis
This is a senior clinical leadership role responsible for coordinating the rostered shift and providing clinical leadership within the ward. You will lead patient care delivery, coordinate staff and resources, and work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to ensure safe, efficient, and effective service delivery. The role also includes leading and responding to Code Stroke events and supporting excellence in acute stroke and rehabilitation care.
As a CNC, you will be a visible clinical leader, role model, and resource for nursing staff, supporting the ongoing development of the team while promoting best practice, quality improvement, and patient-centred care.

The ATR/ASU Ward provides specialised assessment, treatment, rehabilitation, and acute stroke services for patients across the Whanganui region. Our multidisciplinary team is committed to delivering high-quality care that supports recovery, independence, and equitable health outcomes for patients and whānau.

About You
You will bring:
- Current registration with the Nursing Council of New Zealand and a current Annual Practising Certificate.
- A minimum of two years' stroke clinical experience.
- Previous clinical coordination or leadership experience.
- A proficient or expert level PDRP portfolio, or the ability to achieve this within the required timeframe.
- Strong clinical assessment, decision-making, and leadership skills.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities.
- A commitment to quality improvement, staff development, and delivering outstanding patient care.
- A commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi, Whānau Ora principles, and achieving equitable health outcomes.
