Clinical Laboratory Scientist

About This Role

Caring for patients by performing blood tests and studying blood morphology to provide data for diagnosing and treating diseases is the core of this role at Hi-Desert Medical Center. This position ensures that laboratory instrumentation operates according to established practices.

Responsibilities

• Maintain established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality improvement program, safety, environmental and infection control standards
• Conduct job duties in accordance with established hospital policy and safety/sanitation standards
• Draw blood (venous & arterial) as necessary following all standards
• Consult with Pathologist regarding difficult analyses or abnormal findings
• Follow QC, QA and PM program
• Be accurate and complete in documentation, following through in an appropriate manner
• Direct and monitor support staff, guiding in decisions and flow of department
• Enhance professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, in-service meetings, and workshops
• Attend continuing education courses related to area of specialization to remain current in the field
• Serve as a resource for problem solving, client concerns and overall laboratory practices
• Apprise lab management of issues, problems, concerns, as well as suggestions for lab functions
• Operate necessary computer system(s) to perform job functions

Requirements

• Licensure as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist
• Sufficient previous experience in all areas of the lab
