About This Role
This role involves performing and monitoring a full range of laboratory testing and analysis, taking responsibility for problem resolution, quality control, and equipment maintenance with minimal supervision. The Clinical Laboratory Scientist ensures that all regulatory requirements are met.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate specimen orders and enter information into LIS if necessary
- Perform laboratory tests in compliance with department procedures and all pertinent regulatory requirements
- Follow quality control, quality assurance, safety, and infection control procedures
- Perform instrument maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting
- Accurately report test results
- Perform microscopic analysis of samples
- Maintain appropriate inventory of supplies
- Maintain effective communication and working relationships with all PathMD Laboratory employees and external customers
- Demonstrate and educate laboratory principles and technical skills to others
- Perform other duties as reasonably assigned
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in the Life Sciences
- CA Clinical Laboratory Scientist license required
- Minimum of two years of prior lab experience
- Knowledge of laboratory regulations, protocols and procedures
- Analytical and critical thinking abilities
- Ability to comprehend and communicate instructions
- Ability to perform laboratory protocols and procedures
- Basic knowledge and experience with basic laboratory equipment such as centrifuges, micropipettes, pH meters, microscopes, PCR/Clinical equipment, etc.
- Knowledge of microscopic analysis of blood and urine
- Skill in the use of computers and related software applications
- Knowledge of safety and infection control standards
- Ability to work in a team environment
