Position Type:
Paraprofessional - Campus/Instructional Assistant
PRIMARY PURPOSE:
- Provide instructional assistance and student supervision in a variety of classroom settings to support student learning and ensure continuity of instruction while teachers attend Admission, Review, and Dismissal (ARD) committee meetings. Maintain a safe, orderly, and productive learning environment in alignment with district and campus expectations.
Education/Certification:
- High school diploma or GED
- Valid Texas educational aide certificate
Special Knowledge/Skills:
- Ability to assist in instructing reading, writing, and mathematics
- Ability to work well with children with diverse needs, including students with disabilities
- Knowledge of general classroom management practices
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
Experience:
- Experience working with children preferred
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
- Provide classroom coverage for teachers attending ARD committee meetings.
- Assist in implementing teacher-directed lesson plans and instructional activities.
- Help students master instructional materials and reinforce learning concepts.
- Provide support to students receiving special education services, including implementation of accommodations and modifications as directed.
- Help manage student behavior and maintain a structured learning environment.
- Monitor students during assigned periods to ensure safety and appropriate behavior.
- Assist with transitions, routines, and supervision of students in various settings.
- Work with individual students or small groups to support learning and engagement.
- Adapt to various classroom assignments, including general education and special education settings.
- Assist with instructional materials and classroom organization as needed.
- Maintain confidentiality of student and staff information.
- Participate in staff development and training as required.
- Follow district safety protocols and campus procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
