Claims Adjuster

About This Role

This role involves managing a portfolio of commercial liability claims from the initial investigation through to settlement, specializing in commercial auto and other commercial lines. It suits an experienced claims professional looking for a challenging role with a carrier that offers growth opportunities and executive mentorship.

Responsibilities

• Manage a caseload of about 120 files across commercial auto (30–40%) and other commercial lines, with 20–30% in litigation
• Investigate and determine liability and exposure on bodily injury and property damage claims
• Interview insureds, claimants, witnesses and agents, and take recorded statements
• Review police reports and medical records, and evaluate claims accurately
• Negotiate settlements with claimants and attorneys, and work with counsel on litigated files

Requirements

• 3–10 years of P&C claims experience (strong candidates outside that range will be considered)
• Commercial auto experience preferred. Personal auto with bodily injury exposure will also be considered.
• E&S experience is a plus
• A P&C adjuster license, or the ability to get one within 6 months
• College degree strongly preferred but not required
• AIC, CPCU or similar designations are a plus
