Claims Adjuster

About This Role

The Claims Adjuster investigates, evaluates, disposes of, and settles various types of claims, including general liability, product liability, first-party property damage, auto, and third-party auto claims. This role suits an empathetic expert who can navigate complexity and support recovery for clients.

Responsibilities

• Provide exceptional customer service
• Demonstrate strong knowledge of the subrogation process and recovery
• Make decisions and resolve issues inherent in handling claims using analytical skills
• Successfully negotiate the settlement and disposition of claims, including interpreting related documentation
• Negotiate directly with parties to resolve claims within granted authority
• Handle claims consistent with client and corporate policies, procedures, and "Best Practices", and in accordance with statutory, regulatory, and ethics requirements

Requirements

• High school diploma
• 3 years of related claims experience
• CIP completion or in progress with minimum courses for licensing including C11, C110, C14, C12
• Appropriately licensed and/or certified in all provinces in which claims are being handled or able to obtain the licenses/certification per local requirements
• Extensive knowledge of accepted industry standards and practices
• Computer experience with related claims and business software
• Strong coverage skills
• Ability to multi-task and adapt to a changing environment
• Time management skills
• Strong organization skills with attention to detail and accuracy
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, demonstrating professionalism
• Strong understanding of Microsoft Office programs, like Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
