Claims Adjuster

About This Role

The Claims Adjuster investigates, evaluates, and negotiates liability and physical damage claims to minimize the adverse effects of accidental losses against the company. This role involves working with claimants, witnesses, and external adjusters to determine liability and settle claims.

Responsibilities

• Maintain paperless and computer files on all current liability, property, and physical damage claims
• Oversee correspondence and direction when dealing with outside adjusters
• Interview and/or correspond with claimants and witnesses
• Consult police and hospital personnel
• Inspect property damage to determine the extent of the company’s liability, varying the method of investigation according to the type of insurance
• Estimate the cost of repairs, replacement, or compensation
• Prepare reports of findings and negotiate settlements with claimants and insurance companies
• Assist in managing subrogation and litigated claims
• Set and monitor case reserves

Requirements

• Four-year degree with 1 - 3 years claims experience
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word and Excel) products
• Ability to function in a fast-paced work environment and tolerate stress
• Ability to plan and organize, attention to detail, problem-solving skills
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
