Civil Municipal Engineer

About This Role

This Project Engineer role is for the Municipal and Civil Engineering practice, joining a well-established team. The ideal candidate is a team player with experience in various civil design aspects, including grading, roadway, storm water management, water, sanitary sewer, and erosion and sediment control. The role also involves permitting, code research, writing specifications, and preparing permit applications.

Responsibilities

• Conduct grading design
• Conduct roadway design
• Conduct storm water management systems design
• Conduct water and sanitary sewer design
• Conduct erosion and sediment control design
• Conduct permitting and code research
• Write specifications
• Prepare and submit permit applications
• Manage projects, including scope, schedule and budget
• Perform construction administration in municipal work

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering
• Alabama Professional Engineering (PE) license or ability to obtain reciprocity
• 5 to 10 years’ experience of increasing levels of project and client responsibilities for public sector projects
• Successful track record of managing projects
• Construction administration experience in municipal work
• Strong verbal and report writing skills
• Knowledge of Alabama Department of Transportation specifications, policies, and procedures
• Use software such as Revit, GIS, Civil 3D, AutoCAD or MicroStation with Inroads and Bluebeam to assist in project design and analysis
• Use StormCAD, PondPack, SewerGEMS, for stormwater modeling
• Use Traffic Modeling

Nice to have:

• Strong technical skills in hydraulic modeling and restrained joint pipe design software
• Experience with Intersection Improvements, Road Widening, Roundabouts, New Roadway/Right of Way, Boardwalks/Pedestrian Facilities, Bridge Design Process, Grading and Drainage, Traffic Signalization, Pole Foundations
