About This Role
This Civil Engineer role supports the delivery of high-quality infrastructure and treatment projects across water and wastewater within the UK Water sector. You will contribute to projects from feasibility through to detailed design, working with experienced engineers and multi-disciplinary teams. The position offers clear opportunities to develop technical capability, project experience, and progress towards chartership.
Responsibilities
- Deliver civil engineering design from feasibility through to detailed design
- Prepare supporting design calculations, technical notes and reports
- Coordinate and manage the preparation of technical drawings
- Support delivery of projects to agreed programme, budget and quality targets
- Take responsibility for smaller projects or defined elements of larger schemes
- Assist with day-to-day financial and commercial management of engineering commissions
- Apply relevant British Standards, water industry standards and GHD procedures
- Work collaboratively within multi-disciplinary design teams
- Share knowledge and support the development of junior team members
Requirements
- 2+ years’ experience in civil engineering design, ideally within water and/or industrial sectors
- Exposure to projects such as water and wastewater treatment works, pipelines, pumping stations or related infrastructure
- Experience preparing and checking high-quality calculations, drawings and technical documentation
- Working knowledge of British Standards and water industry standards
- Familiarity with industry-standard analysis and design software
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative, team-focused approach
Nice to have:
- Degree in a relevant engineering discipline
- Working towards (or interested in attaining) Chartered Engineer (ICE) status
- Exposure to design & build project environments
