Civil Engineer

About This Role

Developing civil engineering designs from concept through to delivery is the core of this role within a growing Civil & Structural team. The position offers the chance to take ownership of design packages and build technical experience across various projects, working alongside other engineering disciplines. It suits a candidate who is working towards chartership and seeking relevant project experience.

Responsibilities

• Develop civil engineering designs covering areas such as drainage, earthworks, pavements and external works
• Produce design deliverables including drawings, specifications, calculations and technical reports
• Take responsibility for your own design packages and support the delivery of larger projects
• Work closely with structural and other engineering disciplines to coordinate designs and develop practical, buildable solutions
• Support the coordination of underground services using 3D design tools
• Attend site when required, including surveys and construction-stage activities
• Contribute to technical discussions and help resolve design issues as projects progress
• Support project managers and senior engineers with programme, scope, fee and tender activities
• Work to relevant standards, client requirements and quality processes

Requirements

• A degree in Civil Engineering or an equivalent qualification
• Working towards Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status with ICE
• Experience in civil engineering design, ideally covering drainage, earthworks, pavement design and external works
• Experience using Civil 3D and MicroDrainage/InfoDrainage
• Knowledge of 3D underground services coordination
• Experience working within multidisciplinary project teams
• Good communication skills and the ability to work confidently with engineers, clients and other project stakeholders
• An interest in developing your technical capability and progressing towards professional qualification
• Experience using Autodesk Civil 3D and MicroDrainage/InfoDrainage, with knowledge of AutoCAD and an interest in developing your BIM and digital engineering skills

• International experience and the ability to speak an additional European language, such as German, French or Dutch/Flemish
