About This Role
Caring for young learners in a Christian environment is the core of this assistant teacher role, where you will guide them through educational activities like arts and crafts, free play, and storytelling. The position focuses on teaching fundamental concepts for kindergarten readiness, such as numbers, letters, and social skills within a classroom structure. It suits an enthusiastic individual with patience, compassion, and energy, capable of inspiring and developing young children with diverse abilities and personalities.
Responsibilities
- Teach children core concepts, such as numbers, letters, shapes, patterns, and colors
- Cater lesson plans to your unique group of young learners
- Use creative, hands-on methods of learning, such as artistic expression, free play, and storytelling
- Plan a curriculum that addresses early childhood education requirements
- Encourage and monitor social interactions between learners
- Instill a sense of respect and discipline so that children work effectively in a classroom setting
- Supervise children outside of class time, such as during lunch, out on the playground, or on field trips
- Make sure that the classroom is clean, safe, and well-organized
- Set up the materials and workspaces required for class activities
- Communicate with parents to learn more about each child's life outside the classroom
- Create reports to inform parents about their children's progress at school
- Maintain a clean, safe, and sanitary environment
Requirements
- Past experience teaching children in the preschool or pre-kindergarten age group
- Ability to educate with age-appropriate language and teaching methods
- Patience, optimism, compassion, enthusiasm, and empathy
- Mediation skills for resolving conflicts between children
- Creative mindset to plan innovative, exciting lessons
- Ability to follow direction and be a team player
- Ability to stand as a positive role model for impressionable minds
