Chief of Staff

About This Role

This executive-level role serves as the operational backbone of the executive team, reporting directly to the CEO. The Chief of Staff will own the company's operating rhythm, drive top priorities, and build the people function from the ground up, requiring a hands-on approach to scaling the company alongside the CEO.

Responsibilities

• Run executive meetings, goal-setting, and accountability across the C-suite
• Prepare board meetings and investor updates, and support fundraising
• Lead cross-functional projects from scoping to delivery
• Build and run the hiring engine for engineering, operations, and field teams
• Develop compensation and equity frameworks, onboarding processes, and performance management systems
• Manage US and Australian employment compliance with PEO and legal partners
• Shape the organizational structure and culture during company scaling
• Build the company's internal operating stack using AI tools to leverage work like recruiting, reporting, board prep, and onboarding

Requirements

• 5+ years in operations, strategy, consulting, or military leadership, with at least 2 years at a high-growth startup
• A track record of executing complex projects with minimal direction
• Sound judgment and absolute discretion with confidential information
• Comfort working with engineers, field crews, executives, and investors alike
• AI-native in practice, using AI tools daily to automate, analyze, and draft, with demonstrable workflows that save real time

Nice to have:

• Hardware, robotics, energy, construction, or military experience
• Experience building a people function or managing an international workforce
• Willingness to travel to Australia periodically
