Chief Marketing Officer

About This Role

This Chief Marketing Officer role is for a B2B/B2C company in the consumer products and education space, with accountability for two adjacent companies. The leader will build a marketing organization from the ground up, connecting talented marketers, channels, and data into a single, accountable growth engine. This position offers genuine authority, a seat on the executive team, and a partnership with the founder to define the operating model and own marketing strategy and execution.

Responsibilities

• Own overarching marketing strategy, brand positioning, segmentation, and customer journey across both companies, with every goal tied to a measurable business outcome
• Lead and develop the marketing team, and the operating model that makes it perform
• Drive national and grassroots campaigns across paid, earned, owned, and grassroots channels, and manage the budget and ROI behind them
• Oversee the full digital ecosystem: website, SEO and AEO, paid media, email and SMS, social, and analytics, held to real business impact rather than vanity metrics
• Manage the marketing technology stack, the in-flight CRM and automation implementation, and AI enablement across the function
• Partner closely with technology leadership through the platform rebuild
• Market two critical programs/charities established by the company with the respect they deserve

Requirements

• 15+ years of experience in senior marketing leadership, including running a full marketing function
• Genuinely energized by building the operating model rather than inheriting one
• Proven operator who has connected email, creative, social, paid, and analytics into one engine and driven measurable growth
• Fluent across B2B and multi-location retail/service, comfortable moving between system-wide strategy and local execution
• Leader who grows brands through durable levers, community, referral, and lifecycle, not just promotions
• Hands-on with a modern martech stack and CRM/automation
• Genuinely fluent in applying AI to marketing
• High intellectual horsepower with daily humility
• Collaborator with finance and technology, not a silo-builder
• Present, hands-on leader who wants to be in the building and build something that lasts
