Chief Information Officer

About This Role

This leadership role directs the development of all application systems within Emergence Health Network, encompassing enterprise and end-user computing systems such as Medical Records, Health Information Management, and Data Analytics. The Chief Information Officer leads, plans, directs, and controls project application teams in designing, implementing, and maintaining mission-critical data processing and information systems. The incumbent works independently under limited supervision, reporting major activities through periodic meetings with executive leadership, and reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), providing regular updates on strategic initiatives, system performance, and operational priorities.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct supervision, leadership, and performance management for assigned staff, processing employee concerns and problems, directing work, counseling, disciplining, and completing employee performance appraisals
• Coordinate, assign, and review work and establish work schedules; maintain standards; monitor status of work in progress; inspect completed work assignments; answer questions; give advice and direction as needed
• Maintain an active role as advisor to the CEO regarding division operations, strategic initiatives, and emerging technology opportunities ensuring continuous flow of information to support strategic planning and organizational growth
• Manage the people, processes, information technology systems, health information data assets, and operational resources needed to support organizational goals and objectives
• Adhere to HIPAA and cybersecurity guidelines to ensure regulatory compliance, mitigate risk and protect organizational data and systems
• Provide leadership in critical strategic, technical, and operational initiatives, spanning information technology and consumer experience
• Deliver services leveraging emerging and innovative technologies, including business intelligence, dashboards, and healthcare wearables
• Develop center-wide policies, procedures, and standards; review data analysis, make recommendations to improve efficiency, performance, and service delivery
• Develop sound divisional budgets and allocate Health Information Technology (HIT) resources to maximize operational impact and return on investment
• Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree (Master's strongly preferred) in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering or related field
• Eight (8) years of progressive supervisory experience in information technology for a large network system, hospital or clinic; or possession of any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities
• Knowledge of trauma-informed theories, principals, and practices (includes multi-faceted understanding of concepts such as community trauma, intergenerational and historical trauma, parallel processes, and universal precautions), preferred
