About This Role
Umoja Health is seeking a hands-on CFO to help lead our next stage of growth. Our businesses span food distribution, nutrition security, food for health, and third-party logistics—connecting strong business execution with meaningful community impact. The CFO will work closely with the leadership team, board, and investors to improve financial performance, strengthen accountability, and support expansion.
Responsibilities
- Lead financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting across multiple business divisions.
- Build clear visibility into customer profitability, divisional performance, pricing, and margins.
- Manage cash forecasting, working capital, inventory economics, and banking relationships.
- Partner with operating leaders to improve performance and hold teams accountable to financial commitments.
- Oversee accounting, timely monthly closes, internal controls, audits, and tax coordination.
- Deliver clear, actionable reporting to the CEO, board, investors, and lenders.
- Support acquisitions, due diligence, integration, and investment decisions.
- Develop the finance team and improve systems, automation, and reporting.
Requirements
- Proven CFO or senior finance leadership experience in distribution, logistics, manufacturing, food, or another inventory-based business.
- Deep FP&A skills and operational curiosity.
- Ability to work directly with warehouse and commercial teams.
- Private equity experience and acquisition experience.
- CPA or MBA is valued.
