About This Role

Leading The Donkey Sanctuary through its next evolution, the Chief Executive Officer will oversee an increasingly global organization with diverse overseas programs and physical facilities. This role requires an experienced leader who can foster compassionate leadership, drive ambition, and quickly develop a five-year strategy with board approval. The successful candidate will inspire staff and stakeholders, ensuring coherence and unity across the organization's global and UK-based cultures.

Responsibilities

• Lead The Donkey Sanctuary through its next evolution
• Oversee an increasingly global organization with overseas programs and physical facilities
• Get the best out of staff and build an approach of compassionate leadership
• Drive ambition and inspiration through the organization
• Quickly understand the organizational model and build a strategy for the next five years
• Gain remit from the board to build the strategy
• Operate and communicate at the nexus of sectors and issues related to donkey welfare
• Generate leads and deliver results as a networker
• Mobilize and inspire audiences as an orator
• Ensure the organization is seen as the voice for donkeys globally
• Sell a strategic vision and communicate it to different stakeholders internally and externally
• Build bridges and deploy diplomacy
• Communicate hard truths and negotiate effectively
• Inspire staff and take them on the strategic journey with global ambition
• Shepherd all organizational stakeholders through the next strategic period
• Tie together the organization culture overseas with the one based in the UK
• Provide coherence and unity between the UK and overseas cultures
• Foster accountability across the leadership team
• Be on-site, visible, available to staff, and collaborative
