About the role
Our client are a FinTech business operating across payments and digital assets, currently seeking an Interim Chief Compliance Officer to provide continuity following a CCO transition, with immediate ownership of the day-to-day compliance function. The priority is keeping onboarding, monitoring and regulatory obligations moving without interruption while maintaining policy and control standards. There is scope to improve and automate core compliance workflows alongside the business-as-usual mandate.
Responsibilities
- Take day-to-day ownership of the compliance function through the transition, acting as the senior compliance point of contact for the executive team
- Keep client and counterparty onboarding and KYB/KYC reviews moving to agreed turnaround times, clearing any backlog created by the transition
- Oversee transaction monitoring and sanctions screening, including alert disposition, escalation and quality assurance
- Maintain the US BSA/AML programme — policies, procedures, enterprise risk assessment and control documentation — refreshing where out of date
- Own the regulatory calendar: filings, registrations, reporting deadlines and audit or examination preparation
- Identify and implement improvements or automation across onboarding and monitoring workflows
- Provide compliance MI and escalation reporting to the CEO
Experience required
- Hands-on US BSA/AML leadership within a regulated fintech, payments or digital-assets business — crypto or payments exposure is the priority
- Prior CCO, deputy CCO or Head of Compliance ownership; comfortable being the most senior compliance voice from day one
- Practical depth across institutional onboarding/KYB, transaction monitoring, sanctions screening and SAR decision-making
- Demonstrable track record of improving or automating compliance workflows and tooling, not simply running them as-is
- Available at short notice on an interim basis
