About the role
Duties
This position is located at the Cliffside Gas field Plant of the BLM Helium operation. The incumbent is responsible for the safe and efficient day-to-day operations of all process equipment. The production facility is a gas processing operation for the separation of helium from natural gas and has a volumetric processing capacity of 40 million cubic feet per day. Process equipment includes a cryogenic helium enrichment unit; numerous auxiliary process systems; a strategic arrangement of more than 25 gas extraction and injection wells; as well as a battery of compression units for appropriate direction of the enriched helium gas and the natural gas by-product. The incumbent works independently, continuously monitoring all equipment, making decisions, planning operations, and executing corrective actions to compensate operational problems encountered; adjusts flow rates, temperatures, and pressures; and, when necessary, communicates with other personnel both verbally and in writing on matters regarding plant operations and equipment maintenance, and places similar equipment into service. The incumbent uses automatic controls but must be able to control equipment manually in case of malfunction of the control systems. To perform the duties of this position, the incumbent must have operating knowledge of cryogenic gas processing equipment for the separation of helium from natural gas and helium gas mixtures.
Qualifications

- Ability to perform the work of the position without more than normal supervision (Screen-out).
- Operation of cryogenic and non-cryogenic gas processing equipment for the separation of helium from natural gas and helium gas mixtures. Operating knowledge of all auxiliary process equipment; extraction/injection wells; compression units; and associated pipelines.
- Ability to interpret instructions, theory and functioning of the equipment in order to regulate the flows, temperatures, and pressures so as to achieve the most efficient use of equipment, and to prevent the damaging of one system by another.
- Ability to interpret instructions and apply process theories; operational procedures; equipment specifications, diagrams, and blueprints; and process flow charts.
- Use of measuring instruments to determine equipment condition from physical observation; assessment of performance and interpretation of local and remote production gauges and meters.
- Ability to use automatic controls to control equipment manually in case of malfunction of the control systems.
- Ability to interpret instructions to be able to communicate issues, concerns verbally and through written communications.
