Chef/Sous Chef

About This Role

This exciting opportunity is for an experienced and talented Sous Chef ready to step up and help run a high-volume food operation in a busy village pub and restaurant. You will be a vital part of the kitchen brigade, supporting the Head Chef in creating fabulous, fresh dishes using seasonal, local ingredients.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and run the pass of the kitchen, taking a hands-on approach to the preparation and cooking of food
• Maintain a consistently high level of food quality and ensure company specifications are adhered to
• Organize and oversee the work of the kitchen staff, delegating and sharing tasks
• Manage stocks of food with careful food rotation
• Work to a wage budget and create rotas
• Order carefully to maintain a GP of over 70%
• Maintain high standards of cleanliness and implement existing health and hygiene procedures
• Train and develop staff

Requirements

• Strong passion for food and hospitality
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to recruit, train, coach, manage and motivate their team
• Experience of maintaining a high standard of hygiene and health and safety at work
• Good working ability to use common computer programs such as Outlook and Word
• Ability to thrive under pressure while maintaining a positive attitude to all tasks
