About This Role

This night-shift post on the cardiac ward pairs patient care with mentoring new nurses. The Charge Nurse coordinates the delivery of quality nursing care for patients from birth through the lifecycle, as well as operational issues during their shift. They provide clinical care as needed when census demands and communicate patient care, departmental issues, and staff concerns to the appropriate leader(s). The role serves as a resource for guidance and assistance to the staff.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate the delivery of quality nursing care for patients from birth through the lifecycle, as well as operational issues during their shift
• Provide clinical care as needed when census demands
• Communicate patient care, departmental issues, and staff concerns to the appropriate leader(s)
• Serve as a resource for guidance and assistance to the staff
• Collect pertinent data and information relative to the healthcare consumer's health or the situation
• Analyze the assessment data to determine actual or potential diagnoses, problems, and issues
• Identify expected outcomes for a plan individualized to the healthcare consumer or the situation
• Develop a plan that prescribes strategies to attain expected, measurable outcomes
• Implement the identified plan of care
• Coordinate care delivery
• Employ strategies to promote health and a safe environment
• Evaluate progress toward attainment of goals and outcomes
• Practice ethically
• Practice in a manner that is congruent with current diversity and inclusion principles
• Communicate effectively in all areas of practice

Requirements

• Graduate from a recognized, accredited school of nursing
• 1 year of nursing experience in a hospital setting
• RN - Registered Nurse - Georgia State Licensure and/or NLC/eNCL Multistate Licensure
• BCLS - Basic Life Support
• Advanced certification in field of specialty, if applicable (see addendum)
• ACLS Certification (Cardiac Tele, Critical Care, Surgical Services including Labor and Delivery)
• PALS Certification (Emergency Department)
