CFO (Shenzhen Based)
Our client is a Hong Kong Main Board listed media company with its operational headquarters based in Shenzhen. Due to continued business growth and strategic corporate development initiatives, the company is seeking an experienced Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to lead the finance function and partner closely with the CEO in driving both operational excellence and long-term value creation.
Position Summary
The CFO will be responsible for overseeing the full spectrum of finance, accounting, financial reporting, strategic planning, corporate finance, fundraising activities, and investor-related projects. The successful candidate will act as a trusted business partner to the CEO and Board and play a key role in supporting future capital market transactions, fundraising initiatives, and potential M&A opportunities.
Position Responsibilities
Financial Leadership & Control
- Lead and manage the Group's finance and accounting functions across Hong Kong and Mainland China.
- Oversee statutory financial reporting, management reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
- Ensure compliance with HKEX Listing Rules, Hong Kong Financial Reporting Standards (HKFRS), PRC regulatory requirements, and internal governance policies.
- Maintain robust internal controls, risk management frameworks, and financial processes.
FP&A and Business Partnering
- Drive annual budgeting, forecasting, and long-term strategic planning processes.
- Develop financial models and business performance dashboards to support executive decision-making.
- Analyze key business drivers, profitability, cash flow, and operational performance.
- Provide strategic financial insights and recommendations to the CEO and senior management team.
Fundraising & Corporate Finance
- Lead fundraising initiatives including equity financing, debt financing, strategic investments, and capital raising transactions.
- Evaluate and execute corporate finance projects including mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, strategic partnerships, and business expansion opportunities.
- Conduct financial due diligence, valuation analysis, transaction structuring, and negotiations.
- Prepare investment materials, financial presentations, and Board papers for fundraising and corporate transactions.
- Liaise with investment banks, financial institutions, legal advisors, and other external stakeholders.
Listed Company Compliance & Investor Reporting
- Lead all financial aspects of Hong Kong Main Board listed company compliance requirements.
- Support Board and Audit Committee reporting.
- Coordinate announcements, circulars, annual reports, interim reports, and other regulatory disclosures.
- Work closely with Company Secretary and external advisors on regulatory and governance matters.
Team Leadership
- Lead and mentor a finance team of approximately 10 professionals across Hong Kong and Mainland China.
- Manage finance managers and develop a high-performance finance organization.
- Promote strong financial governance and best practices throughout the business.
Position Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or related discipline.
- Qualified CPA is mandatory (HKICPA, CICPA, CPA Australia or equivalent recognized qualification).
- Big 4 audit training/background is highly preferred.
- Minimum 12-15 years of progressive finance leadership experience, including CFO, Finance Director, Group Financial Controller or equivalent senior finance positions.
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience working within a Hong Kong Main Board listed company.
- Solid understanding of HKEX Listing Rules, corporate governance, and listed company reporting requirements.
- Prior experience working with China listed companies and familiarity with PRC regulatory requirements.
- Proven track record in fundraising, capital raising, corporate finance, M&A transactions, financial due diligence, and deal execution.
- Strong FP&A, business partnering, and strategic finance experience.
- Experience leading cross-border finance teams in Hong Kong and Mainland China.
- Strong commercial acumen and strategic mindset.
- Excellent financial modelling and analytical capabilities.
- Proven stakeholder management and executive communication skills.
- Hands-on leadership style with the ability to operate both strategically and operationally.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and entrepreneurial environment.
- Fluent in Mandarin (essential) and English; Cantonese is an advantage.
