Role Description The Certified Surgical Technologist is a full-time, on-site role based in Harlingen, TX. This role prepares operating rooms for surgeries, including setting up sterile instruments, equipment, and supplies according to established protocols and surgeon preferences. The technologist assists during surgical procedures by passing instruments, maintaining a sterile field, handling specimens, and supporting the surgical team in safe and efficient patient care. Daily responsibilities include collaborating with surgeons, anesthesiology professionals, and nursing staff, verifying patient and procedure information, and adhering to infection prevention and safety standards. The role also involves post-procedure tasks such as instrument care, room turnover, documentation, and participation in quality and process improvement activities.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated proficiency in Surgical Technology, with the ability to prepare and maintain sterile fields and manage surgical instruments safely.
  • Experience working in an Operating Room setting, including familiarity with OR protocols, workflow, and interdisciplinary team communication.
  • Skills in Surgical Assisting, including anticipating surgeon needs, passing instruments, and supporting procedures across multiple specialties.
  • Foundational knowledge of Medicine and Surgery relevant to perioperative care, including anatomy, physiology, aseptic technique, and infection control.
  • Current certification as a Surgical Technologist (e.g., NBSTSA or equivalent) and graduation from an accredited surgical technology program.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred depending on department requirements.
  • Strong attention to detail, ability to follow standardized procedures, and commitment to patient safety and quality care.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment and adapt to changing clinical needs.
  • Prior experience in a hospital or ambulatory surgery center setting preferred; experience in multiple surgical specialties is an advantage.
