Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist

This role involves caring for patients of all ages and acuity levels during various procedures, including surgical, diagnostic, therapeutic, and pain management. The Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist determines and communicates the plan of care, manages anesthesia, and performs post-operative follow-up.

Responsibilities

• Perform pre-operative patient assessments
• Determine plan of care and communicate it to the patient and family
• Establish and maintain essential venous access
• Ensure establishment and maintenance of airway
• Induct, maintain, and properly manage anesthesia
• Complete anesthesia and manage emergence from anesthesia
• Transfer care to appropriate staff at termination of procedure
• Perform post-operative follow-up for each patient/case performed
• Perform as a clinical instructor for anesthesia students

Requirements

• Graduate of a CCNE or NLN accredited school of registered nursing
• Certified Nurse Anesthetist, CRNA
• Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Iowa and/or meeting the requirements of multi-state licensure
• Certified Nurse Anesthetist, CRNA, Board of Nursing
• BLS/ACLS and PALS Certification
