About This Role
This cashier position involves processing member orders, collecting payments, and performing necessary clean-up and closing tasks. The role requires providing a high level of member service and assisting with various front-end operations.
Responsibilities
- Greet members, obtain membership cards, determine member preferences, answer questions, relate information on special promotions, and thank members
- Scan orders by sliding items from the conveyor belt and across tabletop scanners to the packing area
- Use a hand-held scanning gun or key in item numbers when necessary
- Transfer or ensure transfer of each item as it is scanned
- Monitor all merchandise passing through the register line, promoting accurate merchandise inventory
- Request supervisor verification for high-ticket items
- Assist the Front-End Assistant with transferring merchandise in carts and packing orders, following all safety and security procedures
- Receive accurate payment for goods, make change, process checks, credit, and debit charges according to proper departmental procedures for paperwork and performance of duties
- Count register at sign-on, order change, make witnessed drops of excess funds to the vault, order cash increases, and count register at shift end to maintain accurate register funds
- Perform related tasks, set-up and closing duties for the department, such as putting returned or moved product back, collecting paperwork, stocking registers, cleaning the area, and retrieving carts
- May assist members with self-checkouts with regards to scanning heavy merchandise and entering item numbers
- May assist members with self-checkouts through monitoring the registers for errors and keeping the belt area clean of product and debris
- Operate vehicles, equipment or machinery as needed
- Assist with department duties as necessary
- Assist in other departments of the warehouse as necessary
Requirements
- Open availability is needed to meet the needs of the business, apart from any religious or disability considerations
- Proof of authorization to work in the United States will be required if hired
