About the role

Join a more thoughtful kind of home care company

Visiting Angels East Kent is a small, relationship-led home care company supporting privately funded clients in Canterbury and nearby villages.

We are looking for kind, reliable Care Assistants who want stable hours, regular clients and enough time to provide calm, dignified care. Our care is not rushed or task-driven. We focus on building trust, supporting independence and helping every client feel safe, comfortable and respected at home.

The role

You will support private clients in their own homes with companionship, personal care and practical assistance. Your responsibilities may include:

  • Providing companionship, conversation and reassurance
  • Supporting clients with washing, dressing and personal care
  • Assisting with mobility and safe movement around the home
  • Preparing meals and drinks
  • Helping clients maintain familiar routines and independence
  • Following individual care plans
  • Noticing and reporting changes in health or wellbeing
  • Communicating professionally with clients, families and healthcare professionals
  • Completing clear and accurate care notes
Area and availability

This role covers Canterbury and surrounding villages. We aim to organise sensible local rounds and minimise unnecessary travel.

We particularly welcome applicants who can offer regular weekday availability, some early evenings and alternate weekends. You do not need to be available all day, every day. We will agree your hours around the availability you can reliably commit to.

This position is best suited to someone seeking regular, long-term work rather than occasional or ad hoc shifts.

Requirements

Essential requirements
  • A full UK driving licence
  • Reliable access to your own vehicle
  • The legal right to work in the UK
  • Clear spoken and written English
  • Reliable availability for agreed working hours
  • Availability to work alternate weekends
  • Willingness to provide respectful personal care after training
  • Ability to travel between clients' homes in Canterbury and surrounding villages
  • Willingness to complete satisfactory references, identity checks and the appropriate DBS check

Previous care experience is preferred, particularly in domiciliary or home care. We will also consider significant unpaid caring experience or strong transferable experience.

You should be warm, patient, dependable, observant and comfortable working independently. You must be able to read care plans, write accurate care notes and report concerns clearly.

Please note that we cannot currently offer visa sponsorship for this role.
