About the role
This Cardiovascular Cath Lab RN role is based in Anchorage, AK at a 250-plus-bed regional hospital recognized with 5-star ratings for heart attack treatment, bowel obstruction treatment, and colorectal surgery. The facility operates a three-room Cath Lab performing an average of four to six procedures per day across a broad range of cardiac, vascular, and interventional services.
The role. The Cath Lab RN provides direct nursing care across the full spectrum of invasive cardiac, vascular, and interventional procedures — including cardiac catheterizations, coronary interventions, EP device and ablation therapies, structural heart procedures (LAAC, TAVR), endovascular procedures, and interventional radiology and neuro diagnostics. You will guide patients through every phase of the procedural encounter: transport, site preparation, sterile field support, continuous hemodynamic monitoring, sedation administration (including mixing sedation drips), hemostasis management following catheter or sheath removal, and management of emergent cases. Circulating, monitoring, and sedation responsibilities are all within scope; electrophysiology mapping is handled by a third-party company. You will maintain accurate, timely procedure records and prepare documentation for physician interpretation, while using structured SBAR hand-off communication to support an interdisciplinary care team. This position carries an on-call obligation of approximately eight to ten days per four-week period, requiring the ability to respond and arrive on-site within thirty minutes.
What we're looking for.
- Current RN license in good standing; Alaska RN license required
- Associate's Degree in Nursing required; Bachelor's degree preferred
- Minimum two to three years of Cath Lab experience required, OR five years of experience in a high-acuity setting such as an ICU
- Demonstrated experience with circulating, monitoring, and sedation medication administration, including mixing sedation drips
- Basic Life Support (BLS/BCLS) certification through the American Red Cross or American Heart Association
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification through the American Red Cross or American Heart Association
