Cardiac Cath Lab Nurse

About This Role

This nursing role involves providing individualized care to adult patients undergoing cardiac catheterization procedures and specialized radiology procedures, including their prep and recovery. It also encompasses caring for adult and pediatric patients undergoing specialized cardiac tests. The nurse will monitor, record, and report patient conditions, maintain detailed records, and assist with examinations and treatments.

Responsibilities

• Perform direct patient care within the scope of the Registered Nurse Practice Act
• Utilize therapeutic communication in daily practice
• Maintain a safe therapeutic environment
• Identify nursing problems as they relate to the individual needs of the patient
• Plan individualized patient care while utilizing an interdisciplinary approach
• Participate in performance improvement activities
• Provide care and coordinate participation that fosters the goals of the hospital’s mission and vision statement
• Ensure the delivery of quality patient care in a therapeutic environment when acting in a charge nurse role
• Make staff assignments based on patient need, acuity, and the skill of the staff
• Serve as role models and clinical resource for the staff
• Respond in a timely manner to requests for information or follow-up with physician, staff, or patient issues
• Monitor, record, and report symptoms or changes in patients' conditions
• Maintain accurate, detailed reports and records
• Record patients' medical information and vital signs and any other patient care
• Modify patient treatment plans as indicated by patients' responses and conditions
• Prepare patients for and assist with examinations or treatments

Requirements

• Registered Nurse (RN) Associate Degree
• Additional courses in physiology and hemodynamic monitoring and EKG interpretation
• At least 1 year of critical care experience: ICU, ER
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) must be obtained within 6 months of employment start date
• Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
