About the role
American Express National Bank is American Express’ U.S. bank, representing more than 60% of the company’s revenues through consistent payments, financing, and savings products. The bank issues and underwrites most American Express products in the U.S. and is the only part of our company that accepts deposits from customers. The team supporting AENB (known as AENB HQ) is responsible for the administration of the bank’s programs and services. The team also serves as enterprise centers of excellence for governance and control functions in the first line of defense, meaning they help business unit teams manage risk in a more effective and efficient way.
Minimum Qualifications

Currently enrolled in a Master’s degree program in Finance, Economics, Business, Risk Management, Data Analytics, or a related field.

Master's degree candidates with an expected graduation date between December 2027 and June 2028.

A keen interest in project management, risk management, and/or governance.

Proven ability to work independently as well as part of a team.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with an ability to analyze data, identify trends, and evaluate risk scenarios.

Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.
-
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present ideas clearly to diverse stakeholders.

Comfort using AI-enabled tools to support research, analysis, productivity, and communication, with appropriate judgment and attention to accuracy.

Comfort working with ambiguity, learning new topics quickly, and contributing to projects with cross-functional stakeholders.

Demonstrated initiative, intellectual curiosity, and commitment to delivering high-quality work.
Preferred Qualifications

Interest in banking, financial services, business operations, governance, risk management, controls, program management, or strategy.

Experience using data, reporting, or research to generate insights, support decisions, or recommend process improvements.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Word).

Experience with data visualization software, basic coding languages, and/or risk management tools.
