About This Role
This cable technician role involves installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting telecommunication and network systems in various field environments. The position is for a skilled and reliable technician to join a team focused on delivering high-speed, reliable, and secure fiber optic connectivity for residential and commercial clients.
Responsibilities
- Install, test, and troubleshoot fiber optic cables and related equipment
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs on fiber optic networks
- Conduct site surveys to determine optimal equipment placement and cable routing
- Collaborate with team members and contractors to ensure efficient project completion
- Maintain accurate records of installations, maintenance, and repairs
- Provide technical support and guidance to customers and colleagues
- Adhere to safety protocols and industry standards at all times
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or degree preferred
- Previous experience in fiber optics, telecommunications, or a related field
- Proficiency in using testing equipment and tools for fiber optic installations and repairs
- Strong understanding of fiber optic technology and network infrastructure
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
- Ability to operate hand tools effectively for cabling and mechanical tasks
- Mechanical knowledge related to electrical systems and low voltage wiring
- Proficiency with testing devices such as ohmmeters for diagnosing electrical issues
- Ability to work independently in diverse environments while adhering to safety standards

- Prior experience working with telecommunication infrastructure or as a field service technician

- Contract: contract
- Training: 2 to 4 weeks provided, including on-field shadowing
- Vehicle: own work van/truck highly encouraged; assistance with a company vehicle available
