Cable Technician

About This Role

This cable technician role involves installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting telecommunication and network systems in various field environments. The position is for a skilled and reliable technician to join a team focused on delivering high-speed, reliable, and secure fiber optic connectivity for residential and commercial clients.

Responsibilities

• Install, test, and troubleshoot fiber optic cables and related equipment
• Perform routine maintenance and repairs on fiber optic networks
• Conduct site surveys to determine optimal equipment placement and cable routing
• Collaborate with team members and contractors to ensure efficient project completion
• Maintain accurate records of installations, maintenance, and repairs
• Provide technical support and guidance to customers and colleagues
• Adhere to safety protocols and industry standards at all times

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or degree preferred
• Previous experience in fiber optics, telecommunications, or a related field
• Proficiency in using testing equipment and tools for fiber optic installations and repairs
• Strong understanding of fiber optic technology and network infrastructure
• Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
• Ability to operate hand tools effectively for cabling and mechanical tasks
• Mechanical knowledge related to electrical systems and low voltage wiring
• Proficiency with testing devices such as ohmmeters for diagnosing electrical issues
• Ability to work independently in diverse environments while adhering to safety standards

Important Details

• Contract: contract
• Training: 2 to 4 weeks provided, including on-field shadowing
• Vehicle: own work van/truck highly encouraged; assistance with a company vehicle available
