Cable Technician

About This Role

This contract position for a Cable Technician involves installing, terminating, and testing network and low voltage cables in various settings, ensuring adherence to company standards and applicable codes. The role suits a technician who can work on-site and collaborate effectively with other professionals.

Responsibilities

• Install, terminate, and test network and low voltage cables in residential, commercial, and industrial settings, following company standards and applicable codes
• Pull and route cables
• Set up structured cabling systems
• Label and document cable runs
• Assist with troubleshooting connectivity issues
• Work with hand tools and basic electrical components
• Collaborate with electricians and other technicians
• Maintain a safe, organized work environment
• Interact with contractors and clients on-site, providing professional communication and ensuring work is completed accurately and on schedule

Requirements

• Strong skills working with cables and cabling, including installation, termination, and testing
• Experience with structured cabling systems and standards for data, voice, and low voltage networks
• Basic knowledge of electricity and electrical safety practices relevant to low voltage and cabling work
• Proficiency using hand tools commonly required for cable installation and related electrical tasks
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, and job specifications
• Previous experience as a cable technician, low voltage installer, or similar field role preferred
• Strong attention to detail, organization, and documentation skills for labeling and recordkeeping
• Ability to work on-site, including standing, bending, and lifting as required by the job
• Effective communication skills and the ability to collaborate with contractors, clients, and team members
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to job sites
