  • Requirements

Buyer/Senior Buyer: This is where you come in.

We’re looking for a Buyer/Senior Buyer to procure commodities, materials, equipment, and services that keep our projects and operations moving. You’ll be responsible for finding the best value solutions for MMFS while balancing price, quality, availability, delivery, and overall business needs.

This role requires someone who can build strong relationships with internal business partners and suppliers, understand what the business needs, negotiate effectively, solve problems, and ensure continuity across the supply chain. You’ll have the autonomy to make decisions, improve processes, and take ownership of increasingly complex procurement opportunities.

In return for achieving aggressive goals, you’ll get rewarded with more to own, a ton of growth opportunities, and more freedom than you’ve probably ever had.

Top deliverables in the first year to be a hero:

    • Collaboration – Build strong partnerships with internal teams and suppliers to understand business needs, clarify expectations, and deliver the right materials, equipment, and services at the right time.
    • Strategic Buying & Product Knowledge – Identify and execute best-value procurement solutions for MMFS while continuously expanding your knowledge of MEP equipment, materials, parts, and specialties.
    • Supplier Management & Negotiation – Develop productive supplier relationships, negotiate pricing and terms, identify opportunities for cost savings, and proactively address supply chain challenges.
    • Execute with Distinction – Consistently deliver against purchasing goals, follow and improve team best practices, and take ownership of opportunities that improve procurement performance.
    • Problem Solving & Continuous Improvement – Identify opportunities to improve purchasing processes, reduce costs, mitigate risk, and make it easier for our teams to get what they need.
    • Mentorship & Leadership – Support the development, training, and mentorship of Associate Buyers and Coordinators while serving as a resource for the broader procurement team.

The Buyer/Senior Buyer role reports to Ryan Savage, Strategic Sourcing Manager, and is part of a collaborative team working on a variety of projects and initiatives to support our growing business. This is a highly visible role that interacts with all levels and functions across the organization and provides an opportunity to make a meaningful impact on how MMFS buys and manages its resources.

Your Background: What kind of person will thrive in this role?

    You should have…

    • A track record of delivering best-value procurement solutions through purchasing, procurement, or supply chain management.
    • 3 to 8+ years of purchasing/procurement or supply chain experience; additional experience and demonstrated strategic ownership may be considered for the Senior Buyer level.
    • Strong working knowledge of the MEP industry, specifically equipment, parts, materials, and specialty products.
    • Demonstrated experience working with suppliers, negotiating pricing and terms, resolving issues, and managing competing priorities.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to use data to make sound purchasing decisions.
    • The ability to work independently, exercise good judgment, and take ownership without needing constant direction.
    • A degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Construction Management, or a related field is preferred; direct construction or MEP industry experience is highly valued.
    • Working knowledge of Microsoft Great Plains and/or Power BI is a huge plus!

For the Senior Buyer level, we’re looking for someone who can bring additional depth in strategic sourcing, supplier management, negotiation, cost-saving initiatives, complex purchasing decisions, and mentoring less-experienced team members.

And everyone you work with should describe you as…

    • An innovative thinker with a strategic mindset and a focus on finding better ways to do things.
    • A collaborative team player who builds strong relationships across departments and with suppliers.
    • A strong communicator who can influence, negotiate, and navigate competing priorities.
    • Driven to achieve goals and willing to take ownership when something needs to get done.
    • A problem solver who doesn’t wait for someone else to provide the answer.
    • Someone others can count on to follow through and deliver.

And you should be motivated by…

    • A highly collaborative, cross-functional environment where you’ll work with teams throughout the organization.
    • Empowering yourself to learn and figure things out. If you need a ton of handholding or a micro-manager boss, this is not the place for you.
    • Making an impact. Your decisions will directly influence cost, quality, availability, supplier relationships, and the success of our teams.
    • Working in a lean, results-oriented environment where you’ll be expected to do more, take on more, and achieve more every year.
    • Having the freedom to own your work and make decisions while knowing you have a supportive team behind you.
    • Having fun in an environment high on transparency, open to innovative new approaches, and built around a supportive family feel.
