Buyer, Supply Chain Logistics

About This Role

This role is for a Buyer to drive existing procurement strategies and ensure the seamless supply of materials critical to production processes for a large door-set manufacturer. The Buyer will play a key role in maintaining an uninterrupted flow of goods into the manufacturing facility, ensuring operational efficiency and meeting customer demands by balancing price, quality, and delivery. This position is ideal for experienced Buyers or Purchasers with a keen eye for detail, previous procurement experience in manufacturing, and adeptness in navigating complex supply chains.

Responsibilities

• Research, identify and onboard reliable suppliers for materials, services and components
• Negotiate contracts, pricing, and terms with suppliers to secure cost-effective deals
• Evaluate supplier performance to ensure timely delivery, quality, and compliance with standards
• Place orders in a timely manner to meet production deadlines
• Analyse market trends and pricing to identify cost-saving opportunities
• Ensure that purchased materials and components meet quality specifications and industry standards
• Visit supplier facilities when needed to assess their quality control practices
• Build and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers to foster long-term partnerships
• Resolve disputes or issues with suppliers, including late deliveries or quality problems
• Work closely with other internal departments to align procurement activities with financial, commercial and operational needs
• Identify and mitigate risks related to supply chain disruptions, price fluctuations, supplier dependencies and single points of failure

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Buyer or similar role within a manufacturing setting
• Strong knowledge of procurement and supply chain management principles
• Proficiency in ERP/MRP systems and Microsoft Office Suite MS Office and MS Teams
• Exceptional negotiation and contract management skills
• Excellent communication skills at all levels with both internal and external stakeholders
