Business Operations Supervisor

About This Role

This full-time, on-site role in Wickford involves supporting the day-to-day running of business operations, supervising and coordinating the operations team, and ensuring efficient service delivery across the business. The Business Operations Supervisor reports to the Business Operations Manager and suits a reliable and motivated individual with excellent team supervisory skills.

Responsibilities

• Support the Business Operations Manager in supervising the team
• Assist with managing and delegating the team’s workload
• Monitor and maintain stock levels at the plant and warehouse
• Review and process all customer orders in a timely manner
• Raise customer invoices promptly after delivery
• Process purchase invoices in a timely manner
• Respond promptly to queries and discrepancies
• Request and manage the process for customs clearance
• Arrange haulage for orders, as necessary
• Obtain haulage rates as requested
• Monitor stock levels at terminals
• Arrange stock deliveries for terminals
• Liaise with plant staff to monitor plant orders
• Ensure all documentation and systems are always kept up to date
• Maintain and develop good working relationships between SBZ and third parties
• Work to continuously improve the quality of service

Requirements

• Prior supervisory or team leadership experience in a similar environment
• Strong analytical skills, including the ability to interpret operational data, identify trends, and propose practical improvements
• Excellent communication skills to collaborate with internal teams, liaise with external partners, and present clear updates to leadership
• Finance-related skills, such as basic budgeting, cost tracking, and understanding of operational financial metrics
• Customer service skills to support high-quality service delivery, manage stakeholder expectations, and handle escalations professionally
• Project management skills to coordinate tasks, manage timelines, and oversee the implementation of operational initiatives
• Strong logistic and stock management experience
• Ability to reliably commute or plan to relocate to Wickford SS11 8YB before starting work
• United Kingdom work authorisation

Nice to have:

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel)
• Experience using CRM systems such as Sage 200
• Understanding of shipping processes and terminology / Incoterms
• Knowledge of Custom and Excise procedures including import and export declarations
