This business operations role works directly with the leader of the business line, extending their reach as part chief of staff and part business operations lead. The role involves preparing decisions, running the operating rhythm, representing the leader across forums and business lines, and ensuring agreed-upon actions are completed.
Responsibilities
Prepare decisions: Frame the issues that need a decision, gather the facts and options, and brief ahead of each meeting
Run the rhythm: Run the business reviews and the pipeline and forecast cadence, and follow every action to closure
Track performance: Own the dashboards that show where pipeline, revenue and accounts stand, and flag what needs attention
Drive priorities: Take cross-team initiatives from idea to result, with sales, delivery, partnerships and finance
Represent: Act on the leader’s behalf in meetings and with stakeholders, with judgment and discretion
Advise: Bring an independent view to the leader’s business decisions: pressure-test the options, surface the trade-offs and risks, and recommend a course of action
Prepare forums: Own the leader’s preparation for management forums, group committees and board sessions: build the papers, pre-wire positions with stakeholders, and turn the outcomes into actions
Connect business lines: Coordinate the business line with Echelon’s other business lines and group functions: align priorities, resolve dependencies, and keep the leader ahead of what is coming
Requirements
Analytical: Comfortable with data, models and dashboards, and able to turn numbers into a clear recommendation
Organized: Able to run many workstreams at once, with structure, follow-through and attention to detail
Trusted: The judgment and discretion to handle sensitive information, and the maturity to speak for a senior leader
Customer first: Measure your work by customer outcomes, and prioritize accordingly
Ownership mentality: Own outcomes end to end; when something breaks or stalls, treat it as yours to fix
Clear communicator: Explain complex systems simply, to operators and executives alike, and make the value of your work visible
Comfortable with ambiguity: Make progress with incomplete information, partial data and unfamiliar environments, and enjoy solving problems where there is no structure yet
Long-term builder: Invest in Echelon’s long-term success, bringing field insight back into our strategy and operations
Curiosity: Learn how each team really works, and what the business needs from it
Speed: Turn a request into a working tracker, brief or process quickly
Rigor: Check the numbers before you share them, and can explain where each one comes from
