Business Development Specialist

About This Role

Developing new business leads and identifying sales opportunities is the primary focus of this specialist role. The Business Development Specialist will lead outbound business-to-business sales generation activities, manage daily strategies for establishing new business, and perform market research and analysis to adjust strategies effectively.

Responsibilities

• Develop and manage sales strategy and approach to generate new business leads in conjunction with Sales Producers
• Execute outbound prospecting campaigns in each market sector, designed to drive qualified new business leads and appointments
• Uncover new sales opportunities by networking to increase contacts
• Represent and sell MMA East’s capabilities for trade show event activities
• Prioritize prospects and remain cognizant of changing market conditions
• Perform research for each assigned market sector in preparation for strategy while partnering with the Producers for further qualification and interaction
• Perform research on competitors and their offerings; present information to the proper individuals as required
• Proficient with internal sales systems needed to request team assignments, log prospects into pipeline, track new business, and request contracts
• Complete and approve PCF process
• Track budget to actual on sold clients during quarterly and year-end review
• Prepare for conferences: vet attendee lists, utilize AI for gathering pre-call intel on prospects, create prospect data breakdown sheets
• Perform post-conference tasks: set up calls with prospects, send out first call data requests, conduct outreach campaigns, update Salesforce regularly
• Travel to conferences throughout the year with Producers
• Compile activity log and prospect spreadsheets for weekly meetings

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience required
• Some work experience in a sales, marketing, professional services or customer service-driven environment preferred
• Experience in business-to-business sales or outbound sales environments preferred
• Active Life and Health License preferred; if not licensed, required to obtain Life and Health License within first 90 days of employment
• Must be a self-starter who requires minimal supervision
• Self-motivation to take initiative and manage all time-sensitive conference follow-up
• Ability to engage with others and work as part of a team
• Aptitude for, or demonstrated working knowledge of, sales automation technologies and/or experience applying these technologies in the sales process
• Outstanding and effective telephone skills
• Strong written, verbal and listening skills
