Business Development Representative

About This Role

Bringing new commercial and industrial clients to the company's energy efficiency business in the New York City Tri-State area is the core of this sales role. You will report to senior sales leadership and focus on winning new business. This is a hunter role where you will find opportunities, lead technical conversations, build proposals, and close deals.

Responsibilities

• Prospect and win commercial and industrial customers throughout New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut using a consultative sales approach
• Bring existing client relationships that can turn into near-term opportunities
• Learn how a customer’s buildings and energy systems operate, then shape efficiency projects that fit their needs and budget
• Prepare clear proposals and present them, in person and virtually, to executives and decision-makers
• Stay current on building systems, energy technology, and the federal, state, and utility incentive programs available across the Tri-State area
• Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and local business gatherings
• Track opportunities in the CRM and provide reliable weekly forecasts and updates

Requirements

• An active network of commercial or industrial contacts in the NYC Tri-State area
• Strong writing and presentation skills, and the ability to explain technical and financial concepts in plain terms
• Comfort working with facility and energy data to build sound recommendations
• A solid grasp of ROI, payback, and how energy investments affect operating budgets
• Experience earning trust quickly and working through multi-layered organizations to reach decisions
• Motivation, urgency, and discipline in managing your own pipeline
