About the role
Business Development Lead (Engineering & Restoration Solutions)
Location: Greater Chicago Area
Compensation: Competitive Base Salary + Performance Bonus + Benefits
A leading Midwest masonry and façade restoration contractor is seeking a Business Development Lead with an engineering or technical construction background to drive growth across the commercial, institutional, healthcare, higher education, and industrial markets.
This is a unique opportunity for someone who enjoys the relationship-building side of construction but can also speak technically with engineers, consultants, building owners, and general contractors about masonry restoration, façade rehabilitation, waterproofing, structural repairs, and building envelope solutions.
Unlike a traditional sales role, this position focuses on becoming a trusted technical resource to engineering firms, consultants, and construction professionals who influence restoration and repair projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and grow relationships with structural engineering firms, building envelope consultants, architects, and general contractors.
- Identify upcoming restoration, façade, masonry, and waterproofing projects before they reach bid stage.
- Act as a technical liaison between clients and operations teams.
- Attend industry events, engineering association meetings, and networking functions.
- Conduct project research and market intelligence to identify new business opportunities.
- Partner with estimators and project management teams to position the company for upcoming work.
- Maintain and expand relationships with existing clients while developing new accounts.
- Deliver presentations and lunch-and-learn sessions to engineering and consulting firms.
- Track opportunities through CRM and assist in developing strategic growth plans.
Ideal Background
-
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or a related field.
-
5+ years of experience in engineering, restoration consulting, building envelope consulting, project management, estimating, or technical business development.
-
Understanding of:
- Masonry restoration
- Façade rehabilitation
- Structural repairs
- Waterproofing
- Concrete restoration
- Historic preservation
- Building envelope systems
-
Strong network within the Chicago construction and engineering community is preferred.
-
Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
-
Ability to discuss technical restoration challenges with engineers, architects, and construction professionals.
Why This Opportunity?
- Join a highly respected restoration contractor with decades of experience in the Midwest market.
- Take ownership of strategic client relationships rather than cold-calling transactional accounts.
- Work directly with engineering firms, consultants, property owners, and top general contractors.
- Be part of a company with a strong reputation, repeat clients, and a healthy backlog of work.
- Clear path for advancement as the company continues to expand its market presence.
