Responsibilities
- Safely operate various types of buses, including school buses, paratransit vehicles, and community transport vans, adhering to all traffic laws and safety regulations
- Provide excellent customer service by communicating clearly with passengers and addressing their needs with patience and professionalism
- Conduct pre-trip inspections to ensure vehicle safety and mechanical readiness before each journey
- Manage behavior and maintain order among passengers, especially when working with children or vulnerable populations
- Follow designated routes and schedules accurately while adjusting for traffic or unforeseen delays
- Assist passengers with boarding and disembarking, including those with mobility challenges or special needs
- Maintain accurate logs of trips, passenger counts, and vehicle inspections to ensure compliance and safety standards
Requirements
- Valid driver
’s license with a clean driving record
- Class E driver’s license (chauffeur's) required
- Proven experience in bus driving or commercial driving roles
- Familiarity with school bus driving or paratransit services is highly desirable
- Strong communication skills
- Mechanical knowledge to perform basic vehicle inspections and troubleshoot minor issues
- Experience working with children
- Understanding of childcare
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to manage behavior effectively and maintain a positive environment onboard
- Ability to follow detailed routes and schedules accurately while demonstrating attentiveness and safety consciousness
