About the role

Duties

As a Budget Analyst/Lead Budget Analyst you will:

  • Assist in work to be accomplished and communicate assignments, problems to be solved, issues, and deadlines.
  • Coach the team in the selection and application of appropriate problem solving methods and techniques.
  • Maintain program and administrative reference materials, project files and relevant background documents.
  • Prepare reports and maintain records of work accomplishments and administrative information.
  • Represent the team for the purpose of obtaining resources and securing needed information or decisions from the supervisor on major work problems and issues that arise.
  • Represent team findings and recommendations in meetings and deal with issues related to or that have an impact on the team's objectives, work products and/or tasks.
  • Research a wide range of qualitative and quantitative methods to identify, assess, analyze and improve team effectiveness, efficiency and work products.
  • Resolve simple complaints of employees.

Qualifications

You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement.

GS-13 LEVEL: You must have 1 year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes knowledge of the federal budget process; Ability to interpret and apply budget instructions, administrative memoranda, and regulatory guidelines from a procedural, technical standpoint; Knowledge and ability to analyze detailed accounting and statistical information, process analysis tools and structured problem solving techniques; Ability to evaluate the effectiveness of the full range of fiscal management budgetary functions and exercising judgment in planning and carrying out all phases of budget formulation and execution processes; knowledge of public laws, executive orders, OMB circulars and bulletins; and skill in using computer applications for word processing, spreadsheets, graphics, and communication programs and/or other applicable financial systems.

-Experience may have been gained in the public sector, private sector or Volunteer Service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis.
